PR. NO 0882135 ST0012033
Welcome to my practice!
Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist, based in Riverclub Sandton, with a special interest in communication, literacy and feeding intervention.
Hello! I'm Juliette
First and foremost, I absolutely love working as a Speech and Language Therapist. I believe strongly in using a child’s strengths to make therapy fun, interactive and positive. I too believe in collaborating effectively with caregivers, teachers and other professionals to ensure the child is treated holistically.
My passion and drive for working with children and their families started way back when I started studying this profession.
After graduating from the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2015, I completed my Community Service year at a hospital in rural KZN and then decided to venture across to London, to see how I could expand on my skills. Whilst I was abroad, I learned many valuable skills in the assessment and management of children with additional needs.
I decided to return to South Africa to see how I could share these skills with other therapists and families I work with. From 2018 to 2020 I was part of multidisciplinary team in Cape Town and decided to then open my own private practice in Sea Point.
As life goes, my husband and I decided to relocate to Johannesburg at the end of 2021! I am so excited to start building my practice here and work together with families, teachers and colleagues. Here’s to an awesome year ahead! 🙂

Testimonials:
I could not have imagined Olivia Jorja re-entering school without having done the foundational work that she prioritized as part of her development. After over working a few weeks together she has made significant changes that have allowed her to speak/gesture & sign to communicate more clearly. Juliette is intelligent, kind and fun! We are so lucky to get to work with her. From the get-go Juliette connected very well with my daughter and that connection strengthened over the past few months. Followed by that, my daughter was extremely excited ahead of every session. Juliette has taken a substantial amount of time to help us understand and guide us as parents. Her guidance is priceless. She kept us informed of the techniques she was using and how we could apply them at home on a regular basis. Furthermore, Juliette, was always available to discuss my daughters "case" even after hours. She always has time to address all of my questions and give me much needed guidance. Thank you for ALWAYS being so professional and caring. She is patient, friendly and has gotten the most out of her. Even after a full day of school, Juliette is able to keep her attention and give a productive lesson. I would highly recommend Juliette for anyone seeking to get their child speech services. Her vocabulary, expressive language, sentence formation and articulation has improved immensely where people can actually understand what she is saying and is definitely more interactive. Juliette really has areal gift for working with children. Again She has always gone above and beyond for my family. No "words" can Express our Gratitude.
Assessments and Intervention Sessions:
Please note that while these assessments are broken up into different sections some children may require a comprehensive assessment looking at a combination of areas mentioned below.
All assessments will include observations of attention and engagement.
Where necessary, school or home observations will be conducted to view and assess your child in a familiar environment.
Assessments
Feeding assessments and interventions offered are based on the SOS Approach to Feeding: https://sosapproachtofeeding.com/
The aim of this assessment would be to determine whether your child is a “picky eater” or a “problem feeder” as knowing this would determine the course of action for intervention.
Intervention sessions make use of a systematic approach to address both the oral motor & sensory processing needed to eat a variety of food groups and textures.
Not sure if this approach would suit you and your child? Please get in contact and we can determine the best way forward.
Language assessments are conducted to assess a child’s language skills in a variety of contexts. This looks at their understanding of language (receptive language) as well as their use of language (expressive language).
From the assessment, conclusions can be drawn regarding a child’s strengths as well as areas for development. The assessment allows for SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely) goals to be set and targeted during intervention sessions.
Goals will be set according to child’s profile and include parental goals as well as input from his/her class teacher.
A speech assessment is conducted to see whether a child’s speech is typical, atypical or delayed for his/her age. The assessment further aims to establish the type and extent of a speech disorder. If your child’s speech is delayed, intervention will be tailored to his/her needs.
You can decide between a speech screener (a quick, 45 minute screener) or an in-depth speech assessment for more complex analysis.
The literacy support provided include:
- phonological awareness
- reading
- spelling
- creative writing
- comprehension strategies to assist with answering questions from a given text

Home Visits
Having worked in private for the past few years, it is evident that parents may feel a bit exhausted arriving at therapy. From being stuck in traffic, to juggling their other children’s timetables or meeting their own work deadlines. Delivering speech therapy at home helps lessen the load. Not only that, but the child is more comfortable in his/her environment, which is great for building connections with the therapist. From a clinical point of view, it also helps to diagnose children as we are able to observe how they communicate in their own environment, i.e. how they request for items they want or how they interact with siblings. Where suitable, siblings can be involved in the therapy process too, along with parents, caregivers and grandparents if they are nearby. This will help ensure a holistic approach to therapy
School Visits
In instances where schools do not have resident speech and language therapists and schools are willing to have a speech therapist conduct intervention at school, this option can be explored.
Online (Tele-therapy)
Tele-therapy is a great way to access intervention and support for your child. Tele-therapy is the use of telecommunication to provide speech and language therapy services to clients. The speech and language therapist typically uses videoconferencing to administer client sessions in real-time but may utilise other formats, such as email, for related communication. It is important to understand the potential benefits and risks of tele-therapy however these will be discussed with you should you wish to explore this option
